Why do you scrapbook?

My blog challenge this month as ScrapLovers is to answer the question: Why do you scrapbook? I have included my answer in this post and would love to know why you scrapbook, too.

I’ve never had a hobby that I’ve felt particularly passionate about until I started scrapbooking. I think I have always done some form of scrapbooking as I was growing up. I can remember cutting out pictures from magazines, creating titles on my computer and pasting them in my albums since albums full of photos without stories just didn’t seem complete. When I finally gave scrapbooking a try, I was hooked. I love the creative outlet it affords me. I love to experiment with layers, texture and different colour combinations. Since memories do fade over time, I feel compelled to get all the little stories of my girls’ childhoods that I can in my albums. I treasure each and every one of my albums and one day hope my girls will too.

Scrapbooking has also provided me with a whole new group of friends of like mind and interests. I thoroughly enjoy the social aspect of the craft as much as the creative side and am continually planning a new project or layout. Scrapbooking is one hobby that I expect to always be part of my life.
