Upsy Daisy Favourites

It's official! I threw my hat in the ring today for the Upsy Daisy Design Team search. I've posted some layouts of my favourite lines. Wish me luck while I wait on pins and needles for the announcement.

Less is More

Here is my class number 3 entry in the Top Designer contest at Bad Girls Kits. The class was all about white space and minimizing. It's not as easy as it looks. The star is made of beads and pearls that I strung and then stitched on. I'm really enjoying the creative challenges these classes provide.

Here it is...my first Paper Crafts publication

Paper Crafts Holiday Cards & More Volume 3 was released on September 2nd. I've been waiting on pins and needles to see a copy so Danielle (who is also featured in this magazine) was kind enough to send me a scan while I wait. So here it is, the mosaic poinsettia card on the left (click on the image to enlarge). If you see it on the newstands, check me out on page 42.

I won!!

Boy, have I had a great week. I just found out today that I won the Upsy Daisy Halloween contest with this layout. I used clip art as a stencil of sorts to stitch that web. I decided to take a more playful approach to this photo of Callie exploring by adding some stamped Halloween elements to the photo (spider and raven), the stitched web and the hint of bats on the black cardstock background.

Dream Street Goodness

Here are a few projects with some of my favourite Dream Street paper lines. They have a design team call on right now and I had to apply. I LOVE this paper manufacturer and would be thrilled to have the chance to design for them. Wish me luck.

Another Publication Request

I am so excited to share that Scrapbooks Etc. has requested my felt mini book for their magazine. Look for it in the April, 2009 issue. This is my first publication with them and I am THRILLED. Is it April yet? LOL

I also made it through round 2 of the Top Designer competition at Bad Girls Kits, so I'll be back in class this afternoon with bells on for round 3.

Scrap Lovers Reveal

Class # 2 Top Designer

I made it through round 1 of Top Designer at Bad Girls Kit Club!! Yay! This week's class was on mixing patterned paper. Here is my entry.

Treasured Scrapbooking Reveal

This is the kit I had the good fortune to work with this month. It is FULL of new Pink Paislee and Dream Streets papers, funky trims, two sets of stamps and on and on. If you have yet to see this one, you must check it out at Treasured Scrapbooking.

I used the Glitz roller stamp to frame this layout. It was super easy to use.

I now have a blog banner thanks to a challenge from the talented Julie.

There is a new contest revealed today so dig out your school photos and play along. As always, there is a wonderful prize to be won.

This secret keeper by Urban Lily is also included in the kit. It is such a great, easy to use product. I think they would make wonderful baby announcement cards.

This one showcases two of my favourite papers from the kit and another fabulous stamp set by Inque Boutique.

Family is Everything - Canvas

"1st Steps" - Class # 1 Layering

So I went and did it. I enrolled in "Top Designer" over at Bad Girls Kit Club. Our first lesson was on layering and here is my assignment. I am really pleased with how it turned out. All kinds of goodies and stamping on this one.

Zutter Design Team Call

What do chopping mats, beer coasters, chipboard sheets and tabbed photo mattes all have in common? Each one can easily be bound with the Bind it All machine to create unique, custom made projects like the ones below.

This first project is made with chopping mats from the Dollar Store (thanks, Cindy!!) and a Maya Roads tabbed sheer album. The tabbed pages made great dividers between the larger custom pages. This was my first attempt using the machine and I was soooo nervous for fear of ruining my project. As you can see, it is all in one piece and the handy video and instruction book made binding a cinch. You may notice that I didn't position my coil properly but that has since been fixed. :) Please click HERE to view some of the interior pages.

This next card was made with two beer coasters. Who would have thought? They are just the perfect size for so many projects. You can't beat the price either. Check out the interior HERE. My Mom loved this one.

This next project was made using chipboard sheets. I love the look of scallops and books with pages of varying lengths and so this project was born. INTERIOR PAGES HERE.

This is my first online class with Paws on Scrapbooking. I am showcasing a variety of ways to create custom scallops in addition to binding with the Bind it All machine. The class goes live September 29th. I'm really excited. You can get all the information HERE.

This last project is more whimsical in style and theme than the other projects. I have a package of Scenic Route photo mattes that I have had for awhile. One day I got the idea to make a mini book from them and low and behold this project was born. It is a personalized "Wheels on the Bus" story book for my girls. Scrapbook Trends, BABY!!

I got a publication request yesterday from Scrapbook Trends. They want to publish my shadow box in their Baby Idea book due out in March, 2009. I am beyond thrilled.

I also heard that Paper Crafts Holiday Card's & More hit the stands today. My mosaic poinsettia card is in there and I can hardly wait to see it!

Camping Fun

Warning: Photo heavy post!! :)

As soon as we got settled on Saturday we went to the pool.

The girls were fascinated by the fire - no surprise. Callie also got a lesson on roasting marshmallows and s'mores.

I still can't believe we did this one! I discovered Southern Plate a couple of weeks ago and have since tried many of Christy's recipes. Each and every one has been a hit with the cook and the diners at my house. I decided to give the Crock Pot Oatmeal a try and figured what better time to wake up to a warm breakfast than after spending the night in a tent.

We set the crock pot up and plugged it into the service pole beside our tent. I had no idea if bears like oatmeal or not or if the crock pot would even be able to stay warm with the cool air at night, but I gave it a try anyway. I woke up twice in the night to rain showers as well so we really put the old Rival to the test. I am here to tell you it survived all the obstacles beautifully and thankfully we didn't draw the attention of any night time prowlers. The oatmeal was also very tasty, especially with the chocolate chips on top!

We also took in the zoo. Callie's most favourite part was feeding the "horses". She was absolutely thrilled and wanted to go back.

We got home alot earlier than we had planned as the weather was poor but all in all we had a great trip.
