Fly Me to the Moon

Supplies: Paper (Pink Paislee), Stamps (my Stamp BOX), Bee (My Little Bit of Whimsy), Transparency (Hambly, Heidi Swapp), Chipboard (Heidi Swapp), Letters (Scenic Route, Making Memories), Journaling spots (Jillybean Soup, Jenni Bowlin), Rick Rack (??), Ribbon (American Crafts), Beads (Dollarama)

I created this page for the movie quote challenge over at Dream Girls. Any chance C gets, she wants to fly like this or ride on her Daddy's shoulders. In fact, she told me the other day that she'd like to collect a bunch of feathers so she could make a pair of wings and fly like the birds. So here she is with her wings, flying to the moon.

Scrapbooking with Children: Self Portraits

The May/June issue of Scrapbooks Etc. had a self portrait page done by Vicki Boutin and her son. Since I'm always looking for ways to include my girls in crafts, I knew we would have to try it. All we did was select a photo of the girls and some background paper. Then we raided my scrap box to find the colours we needed to make the collage. We worked on the project over two days. The first day was spent selecting paper scraps and cutting them up. I did this step on my own. The second day, I sketched a rough outline on the background paper and we glued all the pieces on. We put it all together in about an hour. Callie worked on one side of the protrait while I worked on the second with Julia on my lap. It got "interesting" a few times but we managed to get it all together. It now sits framed on Callie's dresser and she is just thrilled since she had a part in making it.

And here is the masterpiece as it sits displayed in her bedroom. Isn't it just adorable?

What are some crafty ideas you do with your children? I'd love to do things like this more often.

Happy Earth Day

It has been a very LONG time since I've posted cards. So today, I will post two...both of which were inspired by nature.

This first one was made for a wood grain challenge over at Moxie Fab World.

Supplies: Paper (October Afternoon), Stamps (My Stamp BOX), Bird (My Little Bit of Whimsy), Bamboo Clip (Magic Scraps), Sticker (Making Memories)
This next card was made for an alcohol ink tutorial on the My Stamp BOX blog. I recycled some plastic to make the flower petals. Be sure to head on over there and check it out. Don't forget to share your favourite recycling tips.

Isn't that bee just the CUTEST little thing ever??? This is another of Stephanie Hart's designs over at My Little Bit of Whimsy.

Supplies: Stamps (My Stamp BOX), Flowers (Prima), Bee (My Little Bit of Whimsy), Lace (Walmart)

There is a local crop this weekend and I am teaching a class called "Demystifying Alcohol Inks". It will be my first live performance since I left the classroom two years ago. Here are the pages we will be making. I really hope the girls enjoy the class. Wish me LUCK!

Blue Jean Mini Book

I am super excited about this kit. I’ve had the idea of a jean book in mind for some time and when I saw this new Pink Paislee line, I knew right away the project would soon become a reality. The theme is Life Lessons. You may choose to make this for a child like I did, or make it for yourself as a book about you. However you choose to interpret the theme, grab a group of photos, roll up your sleeves and get ready to have some FUN.

Here is a peek at a few of the interior pages:

Don't you just love this Maya Roads tapestry chipboard?

My Stamp BOX Blog Hop

If you've just happened upon on my blog today, you'll want to see what the myStamp BOX Blog Hop is all about. Go to the myStamp BOX blog to start on this fun journey and play along for a chance to WIN some fun new stamps!

I chose to highlight an alphabet stamp set, Tall Outlines. This is by far the BEST alphabet stamp set I've ever owned. It is the perfect size for most any project and the outline allow me to use it on most any surface and still have the pattern a focal point of each letter.

One of my favourite techniques with this set is to stamp on patterned paper, cut the letters out and pop them up with foam squares like you see here. If you look closely in the flower cluster, you will also see black and white leaves made with a flower petal stamp from the He Loves Me set.

I also used a flower center from the He Loves Me set as a frame for these glass brads.

Here is the finished page: "Welcome Home".

Supplies: Paper (GCD Studios), Stamps (My Stamp BOX), Brads (Creative Cafe, Making Memories), Gaffer Tape (7 Gypsies), Trim (May Arts), Journaling card (Urban Lily), Chipboard House (Maya Roads), Letters (Making Memories), Bling (Prima)

Thanks for playing along with us today. Before you finish the blog hop for the night, go back to the myStamp BOX blog and let us know you participated.

Creating Clusters with Stamps

Clusters of embellishments are all the rage in scrapbooking these days. But have you ever thought to use your stamps as another interesting element in a cluster of goodies?

In this example, I used the Memories Seal from the Just Add Notes set as a frame for a button.

Here you will see a flower center from the He Loves Me set used to circle the date on the calendar die cut.

In this example, a stamp from the You Name It set is nestled in with a cluster of buttons.

Here are the finished pages.

“Pucker Up” features stamps from Just Add Notes, Colorful Companions, and letters from Tall Outlines.

"Bittersweet” features stamps from He Loves Me and You Name It.

Happy Clustering!
