SBCH Hall of Fame!!

Today is a bittersweet day as it's the last day of my six month tenure on the Design Team at Scrapbooker's Clubhouse and the above layout is my final project using the February Delish Designs kit. It has truly been a wonderful experience working with Nicole, Share and the other team members. Each and every month it was like Christmas opening the kit. My husband threatened one time to video tape me "oohing and aahhing" over the kit as it was the same production every month.

One of the things I enjoyed the most from the kits was the diversity of manufacturers we worked with, many of whom I had never seen before like Imaginisce, Dream Street Papers, Upsy Daisy and Delish Designs. Nicole does a wonderful job sourcing out the latest products from the newest manufacturers.

Though it's sad to see the term come to an end, I know it is for the best to have a fresh team every six months. I also know it's best for me as this pregnancy has slowed me down considerably over the past few weeks. So there you have it, I have now graduated to the Scrapbooker's Clubhouse Hall of Fame. I can now say I'm a hall of famer! LOL

I PLAYED!!

Well, I did it! I PLAYED tonight in my scrap room for the sheer love of the hobby. It's been just over a week now that I chose PLAY as my word for the year and tonight I finally took the time to do just that. I have design team deadlines looming next week and laundry that needs folded but I put it all on hold to PLAY. It felt great.

One of the crop challenges at Scrapbooker's Clubhouse this weekend is to use NEW products. Yes, new, rip open the package, brand new products. This was definitley a challenge first for me and I must admit, I really like the idea. I got this line of Flair paper a few weeks ago as a RAK from a contest I was in. This is the first time I've seen their products in person, so it was a nice treat to work with something different. It was just a coincidence that the new Maya Road ribbon I had was a perfect match to this paper. I chose the pictures from our trip to Florida as I have not done this vacation justice yet in my scrapbook. It was also nice to have warm thoughts of the beach on such a chilly night.

Hugs, hats and kisses...

It's Friday evening again. I have no idea where the time goes, really. I just know it's going and my little girl is learning new things all the time. She started giving us hugs this week and it just melts my husband and I everytime. Just today, I gave her a kiss and she turned to me and pressed her lips on my cheek, trying to do the same. Well, what a surprise that was and you can bet I kissed her again to see what she would do. She did it a second time, but then the show was over. She had no inclination to do it again when I told my husband what he had missed. She has figured out what her boots are and calls them "bup" and she can't get enough of wearing her hat. She says "uh, oh" anytime she thinks of it and has been doing this since New Years. It's just the cutest because she says it the same way everytime, so deliberate, with a pause after the "uh". I need to get this one on film. Add another new tooth on the bottom and there you have a summary of the last two weeks. It's no wonder I loose track of time with all this going on!

Happy Sunday

Here are a couple of projects I did with the Hambly Screen Print products I received from Scrap Lovers this month. The layout was made using the journaling spots overlay. It turned out to be a great way to chronicle all the new things my daughter did in December, as this was a very eventful month in her life. The second is the cover of a mini book that I made called "The Journey of a New Life". This is my pregnancy journal for the newest addition expected this summer. These products were super to work with and the overlays are made from a very heavy plastic that makes them great for book covers and altered projects.

On a side note: I made a layout this weekend and after I finished, I noticed it had the word "PLAY" on it. Coincidence??? Maybe, maybe not.

PLAY!!!!

It's been nearly three weeks since Ali Edwards posted a challenge in her newsletter encouraging us to choose one word, "a word that (we) can focus on, mediate on, and reflect upon as (we) go about my daily life". I've been mulling this over since the first of the month and the one word that keeps coming to mind is PLAY. The problem with this word is that is was Ali's word for 2006 and who wants to be a copy cat? Well, I've decided to stop fighting it and just go with it. PLAY is the perfect word for me this year, especially with another baby on the way. It is something that I need to spend more time focusing on. I'm so guilty of doing all the things I "need" to do that there doesn't seem to be enough time in the day or week for PLAY. So PLAY it is; it's my word for 2007 whether it's been done before or not.

Is there is a better way to be inspired to PLAY than from a one year old and a puppy?

This layout was made using the January kit at Imagine, Create, Scrap! The Crate paper was fabulous to work with and the kit had so much product in it that I still haven't even made a dent in it. You have to check this one out!!

One patterned paper, two COMPLETELY different looks!

Have you ever used a themed piece of paper to create a layout that is totally opposite of what it was intended for? The November kit from Scrapbooker's Clubhouse featured the "Wondrous Winter" collection from Dream Street Papers. I had very little by way of winter photos so I decided to do something a little different than the norm. The first two layouts I made using the kit had summer themes! Who would have thought? I guess it just goes to show that there really is not limit to the number of different looks that can be achieved with any one line of paper.

Favourite Holiday Snap Shots

This photo was taken at the in-laws. They just got a puppy a few weeks ago and had the place "puppy proof". Looks like that barricade did double duty. It was too cute watching the baby and the dog look at the tree wishing they both could get at it.

This is the first time I've noticed that my little girl isn't a baby anymore. She just started walking full time a few days ago and couldn't be more proud. She loves the toy car that Uncle Darren gave her for Christmas.

2006 in Review - Scrappy Style

2006 has certainly been a year of scrapbooking firsts for me. First and foremost, I discovered the whole electronic side of scrapbooking through message boards, online crops and blogs. Since then I have had many successes and learned more than I could ever express in this post. Here are some of the highlights:
