Bon Voyage

This summer my husband and I had the pleasure of two nights away on our anniversary.  We went to Bar Harbor, "one of the best places to visit in Maine and New England" as it reads on their website.  I can't say that I disagree, either.  It was absolutely beautiful there.  As luck would have it, Imaginisce released a travel themed line this season called "Bon Voyage" so you can bet I've got some Bar Harbor projects to share.

"Vacation"

We spent an entire morning hiking up what is called the Beehive Trail in the Acadia National Park.  It was quite a workout with all the rock faces to climb and the heat of July but it was a wonderful morning.  To top it off, we hiked the Bowl trail that led straight to a lake in the middle of all the rock and vegetation.  You can bet we had a swim.  This photo was taken there.  I felt like I was sitting in an aquarium with all the little fish swimming around.

All these wonderful flourishes are new releases from Imaginisce.  They are the newest addition to the i-rock line - iron on bling.  And because we all need a mini-iron to set them in place, Imaginisce has come to the rescue.

Imaginisce Snag 'Em Stamps meet American Crafts Ink

We had a fun partnership this month with American Crafts Ink and Imaginisce's Snag 'Em stamps.  I can't imagine anyone has yet to discover the Snag 'Em stamps that accompany every paper line Imaginisce releases, but if you haven't make sure to take a run on over to the their website and take a peek.  These cute, inexpensive stamps come in six different images for each and every line. 

For this project, I chose to mix and match a couple of stamp sets:  Enchanted and the new Bon Voyage line with  Leaf and Chestnut American Crafts ink.  The result is a fun little matching game for my girls.  Take a peek.

I'm sure you can all guess why I chose to use the Enchanted stamps, me having three girls in the house and all.  The circle frame stamp from the Bon Voyage line made a great frame for my title.  I hand doodled a scallop edge around the stamp and then used my liquid pearls to create a dotted design around the perimeter.  Notice how dark and beautiful that Chestnut American Crafts ink is.

What makes this game a little different than others we have here at home is the binding ring.  Since they are round, I wanted to create a quick and easy way to clean up and store the game pieces.  The binding ring seemed like the perfect solution.

We are settling in nicely to a new routine here with school back in session and I am finding it easier to make time for scrapbooking again.  YAY!   Here are a couple of my latest pages.  I feel a little rusty, I must admit, but it's a start.

Getting Back into a Routine

Hello Blogging Friends.

Tonight marks the unofficial last night of summer and as always, it's bittersweet.  We have had a fantastic summer and I'm dedicating this post to some of the highlights because I'm not quite ready to move on to fall just yet.  So here they are, in no particular order.

This photo reminds me of two things.  The first is growing asparagus for the first time in our garden.  This is actually one of the meals I made using it.  The second takes a little longer to explain.  I am not a big fish or seafood lover.  In fact, I really don't (didn't) like it much at all my whole life.  I decided a few months ago that I was going to do my best to not have children with the same "handicap" so I've been experimenting with fish recipes and this is one that I must admit I really liked, Fish Cakes. 

I don't think this one needs any explanation!

My husband and I celebrated 8 years of marriage this past July in Bar Harbour.  We spent the better part of a day hiking in their national park.  It was a lot of fun, especially climbing up all the rock faces.

I like to call this one "backyard camping".  There are 4 s'mores addicts in the house so we had lots of requests for campfires.  Can you guess who the 4th s'mores addict is??

Because I love to cook and also because I like a challenge, I took a cake class early in the summer at Michael's.  This is my first attempt at fondant and the next photo is my second.  I bit off a whole lot with the castle cake and have no plans to ever make a second one, but I'm pleased with it and kind of proud of myself too.  That being said, I don't mind taking a few months to "recover" before attempting another fondant cake!  Thankfully, birthdays are well spread out in my house.  Suffice to say, I don't expect to ever make cake making a career!  It's much too stressful.

As always, gardening is a big part of our summer.  My youngest has had a ball picking and eating everything she can find outside, including green blueberries and white strawberries.  It's a mystery since she will turn away perfectly ripe ones on her cereal each day but will glady eat as many she can find at any stage of ripeness everytime she goes outside.  Here she is bringing me a zucchini.

New Beginnings:

Part of my blogging lapse has been summer related and another part of it is due to a new endeavour. I just recently began selling Silpada Jewellery and I am really loving it. It's great to get out and meet new people, take on some new challenges and of course wear beautiful jewellery and earn a little cash.

That being said, I have had to give up some of my scrapbook related responsibilites.  I am no longer designing for Upsy Daisy Designs or Best Creation Inc.  My terms with them ended earlier this summer.  I will continue designing for Imaginisce and Epiphany Crafts so please continue to check in.

I actually spent some time getting crafty tonight and made a garden themed page.  I'll post it later this week.  Until then, thanks so much for reading and I hope you all have a wonderful fall!!

I think I am ready now to close the door on this chapter.  Bring on fall!
