Santa's Little Helper

It's release week again over on the Imaginisce blog and this time we are working with "Santa's Little Helper".  That means that it's Christmas in July again on Tailored Pages so pull up a chair, turn up the A/C and whistle a few bars of Jingle Bells before reading on. :) 

"Celebrate the Season" Mini Album

I got creative with the i-rock templates and added all kinds of blinged out circles and swirls throughout the album and on the two layouts coming next.



"Decorating the Tree"

I used the i-Top tool to create brads to add some dimension to the die cut ornaments.

"Where is our Winter Wonderland?"

Last Christmas was the first in my memory where there was no snow.  The girls asked for scooters for Christmas and I never imagined they would get to test drive them anywhere besides the living room until spring.  They were absolutely delighted to go outside on Christmas Day and go for a ride.

Getting back to the business side of things, we partnered with My Little Shoebox this month and had the privilege of using their glittered and mini alphabet stickers.  I just love how versatile the Kraft mini letters are.

As I mentioned earlier, I had a great time adding swirls, circles and brackets to my work this month using the i-Rock stencils.  I especially like how this one turned out with the white on white.

Two Page Layouts

When I first started scrapbooking, all anyone ever made was two page layouts.  Single page layouts were virtually non-existant as it "wouldn't look right" in a book with single, unrelated pages side by side.  Times sure have changed and I have pretty much forgotten how to make two page layouts.  This summer, I have challenged myself to get back into it and here are a few that I have made lately.

"Simple Joys"

There are all kinds of Epiphany Crafts goodies on this page from the vintage settings and custom number epoxy to the buttons you see across the page.

"Fun Fall Leaves"

Supplies:  Paper, Die Cuts, Stickers, i-rock, Glam Rocks (Imaginisce), Doodling Template (Crafter's Workshop), Letters (American Crafts), Cricut, Buttons (Doodlebug)

I really tried to do something different with this one.  I used a doodling template by Crafter's Workshop to make the flourishes and then I cut a bunch of leaves out with my Cricut.  The idea was to create a page with leaves blowing across the page.  I'm not sure I accomplished it, but that was the goal.

I think this last one is my favourite.  Perahps after the third one I was getting a little more adept, who knows.

"Spring Bliss"

I just kept layering and layering on this page. I think I used almost a full package of Dear Lizzy chipboard shapes on this one. 

So there you have it, yet another attempt at two page layouts.  I can't say that I'm ready to revert back to this style full time, but I really do see the benefit as I generally use many more photos this way.

That's all for now.  I know my posts haven't been as frequent as they usually are, but am cutting back just for the summer months so I can enjoy as many moments as possible of this glorious weather.

New Pages

I had the most relaxing and productive evening of scrapbooking out with a few friends on Friday night.  I got some party favours finished that you will see a little later and these two pages.  I used 6x8 photos on each of them, a completely new size for me.   Blacks had a big special on them last week so I thought I'd give it a try.  I think I still favour working with mini prints, but it's always nice to try something new.

"3 Little Canucks"

It's not often that I find Canadian themed products so when I saw this stamp by Stampin' Up! I jumped on it.  The chipboard leaf is part of a Maya Roads album and is perfect for a Canadian themed page.

"Sugar Crash"

I have had this Basic Grey "Granola" chipboard for ages and finally found a home for it on this page.  I really love how it looks all layered on top of each other.

Christmas in July

Early in June, the Christams magazine calls start to come out and that is what I've been working on the past month.  So if you're okay with looking at all things green, red and sparkly when it's warm and sunny outside, please read on.  :)

"Deck the Halls"

I have really been making an effort to re-acquaint myself with 2 page layouts.  One thing I have discovered is to not be shy about placing focal elements across the seam, like this large chipboard flourish.  All I had to do was mark the cut lines and cut it with an exacto knife before adhering it.

"You Shine"

"Snow Angel"

I think this page is my favourite of the group.

I absolutely love pink and red paired together.

"Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas"

I just love all the open flourishes and leaves on the cover.  Best Creation Inc.'s glitter paper really shines through these openings.

The album only has three pages to it.  While I could have easily created more, I decided to take a different approach.  I made photo flip ups and pockets on the pages instead to maximize the number of photos in the book.
