Revive & Rejunven8

Just Cre8 is having a crop this weekend and I got a chance to play! Look what I made today!

This is the clear CD that is found on the top of a tower of blank DVDs. There is a magnet on the back so you can put it on the fridge. Thanks Carla for the idea!!

The photo opens up to reveal more photos, some journaling and the ticket stub from our tour.

My Scrap/Guest Room is Done!!

I am so excited to finally have my basement room finished. Brett and I have been working on this for about a year now. He tiled the floor and put the baseboard down last winter. I have been looking for a cabinet to put my supplies in since then.

I finally found this one by accident at my aunt's Sears furniture store. I never could have designed one as functional as this. It is a television armoire with tons of storage. The fact that the doors are hinged down the middle makes it work perfectly in this small space. Brett had to assemble this for me. It came in two boxes weighing in at 300 pounds of boards and parts. He is so patient!

Brett also hung the peg board a few months ago and made this table that I work on. It is a simple table that has fold up legs so if I want to move it out when people come over, I can. The sewing machine is one my mother bought when I was in junior high school. I found the stool at a flea market somewhere several years ago and refinished it. The plush chair is my Winners find of the week. All that is left now are the little decorative touches that make it feel more homey.

One Little Word: Perfect

The inspiration for this layout came from the two blogs - One Little Word and the Sisterhood of Scrap. The word this week is "perfect" and the sisterhood of scrap challenge is use a frame around a photo. I decided to make my own frame using a transparency and my foam stamps. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I do!
Hidden journaling reads:
Sometimes I think motherhood is synonymous with worry. My mother worried; she probably still does. It must be one of those innate qualities mothers share, because it started as soon as I knew I was pregnant. Now that I hold a beautiful, healthy baby in my arms, I know my worries have just begun. But for now, I will savour these moments with my perfect baby girl. Sept., 2007

Transparent Card

This is my entry in the Scrap Dragons bonus card challenge. (Who would have thought this would be so difficult to photograph?) The challenge was to use a dragon on a card. Since I had a dragonfly stamp, I chose to use that. I have not used my stamps in at least a year. Since making this card, I am now using my stamps again on layouts and cards both. Thanks so much for the push to not only make cards again but to dig out my stamps.

22 Months Today

Twenty two months ago today, my first daughter was born. I can hardly believe how much she has grown and learned in that short time. She learned to say, "no" a couple of weeks ago and these past few days she has taken to saying, "Ne, ne, non" every time she says, "no". I have never spoken French to her and I know this is just a coincidence but it sure sounds cute. Who knows, maybe she'll have an affinity for languages. A mother can dream, right?
I took this photo of the girls last week and I like it so much, I'm going to enlarge one to frame. I am equally as pleased with this layout. It is one of my new favourites.

Scrap Dragons - Challenge # 3: Mixing it Up

Click on image for a larger view.

I really enjoyed this challenge and still can't believe that I got a decent photo of all of our hands considering one girl is 21 months and the other is 4 weeks. Thanks, Mom!

So how did I use the three inspiration elements? The flowers and sewing tie back to Carla's layout. The photo of the hand sparked an idea to photograph our family's hands and the fabric swatch led me to use fabric on my layout. The enlarged photograph was printed on fabric and then sewn on the layout. I printed the image in black and white to mimic the colour scheme of the fabric swatch. Small photos of my family, taken from index prints, are scattered around the layout so that the photo of the hands is tied back to the people in the picture.

Thanks for the great challenge!!

I can't wait to get my new camera next week.

I got a really nice photo of the girls this weekend. This is my new favourite.
