Party All Year Banner

The project I have to share today is a party banner using SRM Sticker's fun calendar sticker line in conjunction with a Maya Roads canvas album.

Supplies:  Canvas Banner Album (Maya Roads), Stickers (SRM Stickers), Chipboard (Lil Davis Designs), Misc. Buttons, Clips & Binder Rings (Office Supply Store)

To get the intense red colour on the chipboard letters I spray painted them white before inking with Staz-On ink.  Spray paint is my go to method of covering chipboard of any kind with colour.  It covers so nicely, doesn't dirty a single tool and gives me a smooth finish to work with.  Staz-on colours show their true vibrance when used this way.

Here's one last peek before I send you over to the SRM Stickers blog for full design notes on the project.

One last thing before you go, I had a question about the stickers and if I used extra adhesive to get them to stick to the canvas.  I did NOT use any extra adhesive on the stickers.  I stuck them in place and rubbed over the entire surface with the back of my finger nail since I do not own a bone folder...why, I have no idea. They really are a staple and quite a nifty tool.  Anyway, I digress.  I gave them the extra little "touch" to make sure the adhesive fully grabbed the fibers of the canvas.

Any other questions, fire away in the comment section.

Birthday Invitation Raft

Are you looking for something different to make for a party invitation?  For weeks now, I've been looking at these tubes from SRM stickers and the idea of a raft keep coming up so I decided to just go with it and this is what I came up with.
Supplies:  Paper (My Little Shoebox), Stickers (SRM Stickers), Twine (The Twinery), Skewers

I used two of the pennant border stickers to create a flag to decorate the mast with.  I stuck them back to back and cut around the flags to make them more life like.

To add a little more fun to the theme, I used the wand tube to create a little fishing pole that you could use as a party game to go fishing in a bucket of treats.

Be sure to take a look over on the SRM blog for more design details on this project and all kinds of SRM sticker inspriation posted every day.

Today I am 2

You would think I had three birthdays this month with all the projects I've been doing.  The only birthday in our house in March is my own!!  I guess I just got behind and on a roll once I started.  Check this page out.  You may remember the photo on my blog last month.

"Today I am 2"

Supplies:  Paper (My Mind's Eye), Stickers (SRM Stickers & Pink Paislee), Flowers (Purple Pumpkin & Prima), Folders (Kaisercrafts),  Tag (Elle's Studio), Misc. Buttons

This burlap (or hessian as they call it) lollipop flower is one by Purple Pumpkin.  I just love all the different textures they use on them.  Earlier this month, I posted a page using one made of vinyl and canvas.  So fun!

You might also  notice the zigzag stitch around the border.  That is a sticker by SRM Stickers.  I love how quick and easy it was to create the stitched look with that one.

I'll leave you with that for today.  Have a wonderful Thursday!

It's your birthday and it's all about YOU!

The title of this page suits my philosophy on birthdays perfectly.  On your birthday, it's all about YOU!  Thanks to pinterest, I get all kinds of different ideas on how to make that happen.  This page highlights one of those ideas.  We covered the ceiling over Julia's bed with balloons on her fourth birthday.  Even though many of them fell by morning, the effect was the same. She woke up in a sea of ballons and she was absolutely thrilled.  We got a request to have the same done for Callie when her birthday came.

Supplies:  Paper (My Mind's Eye), Stickers (SRM Stickers), Die cut (Jenni Bowlin), Buttons/Flower (Purple Pumpkin) Twine (The Twinery)

We had a "Princess for  Day" theme for the birthday party so the day was filled with all things girly and pink.  These Purple Pumpkin embellishments suit the theme perfectly.

There are a number of SRM Stickers on the page.  They really do have a sticker for every occasion.  I love that because they are clear, I can use them on most any surface including photos.

I'll leave you with that for today. Thanks so much for stopping by!

1st Birthday

I always shied away from birthday projects of any kind until I came across this birthday line by Imaginisce. The patterns are bold, the colours are vibrant and I generally freeze up with that combination but not with this line. I can't explain it but I really think it marked the beginning of a new chapter for me; a new and colourful chapter, one I am really enjoying.

"1st Birthday"

Supplies:  Paper, Candle (Imaginisce), Borders (Doodle Bug), Button (Jenni Bowlin), Chipboard (Basic Grey), Rub-Ons (Jenni Bowlin)

Something else I love about this line is all the fun embellishment like this adorable paper candle.

I'll leave you with that for today along with a wish for a wonderful Wednesday.  Thanks so much for visiting.

Celebrating Another Year

Today we are celebrating another birthday in our house.  My oldest daughter is five today.  We are going to have an official party for her on the weekend, but I wanted to do something special for her today too.  So I made this decoration last night, bought a balloon and had one gift sitting for her on the table when she woke up this morning.

Supplies:  Paper, Chipboard, Rub-Ons, Stickers (Imaginisce), Chipboard Panels (Magistical Memories), Chipboard Letters (Maya Roads), Zutter Bind it All, Paint

The inspiration for this banner was two-fold. First, I wanted to make a banner that was different from the ordinary.  Second, I had some leftover pages from the Magistical Memories build a birthday book I altered a few weeks ago.  Attaching the pages together with my Bind it All gave me just the element of "something different" that I was looking for.

Because of all the cut-outs in the chipboard, I decided to paint the panels white in lieu of covering them with cardstock and painstakingly cutting out all the images.  Spraying them with spray paint was the best idea I've had in a very long time.  What a quick and painless way of covering chipboard. I even sprayed the letters white too so I would have a much stronger red once I inked them. It really worked well.  You can see a slight white border around the perimeter of the letters that I just love.  I will definitely be doing this again.

I couldn't resist adding a springing sticker on the piece. They are just too fun and perfect for a five year old.

Look at the banners from this angle.  Some are rub-ons, other are paper.  I think this has got to be my all time favourite Imaginisce line and the best birthday line ever.

Here is a photo of the birthday girl before heading off to the bus stop this morning.
I am so proud to be her Mom.

Happy Birthday, Callie.

EDITED TO ADD:
Look for this project in the Summer, 2011 issue of Paper Creations Magazine.

Birthday Mini Album

From the moment I saw this chipboard mini album by Magistical Memories, I knew I had to get one and make a book for one of my girls.  I absolutely love the design element where that the words "Happy" and "Birthday" stand above the size of the actual page.  Clever.  This whimsical birthday line by Imaginisce pairs just beautifully with such a fun album design.  So here it goes - my first ever birthday mini album.  I have no idea why, but I shy away from birthday projects and pages for some reason.

"Happy 3rd Birthday"

Supplies:  Paper, Chipboard, Rub-Ons, Springing Stickers (Imaginisce), Trim (Websters Pages), Chipboard Album (Magistical Memories), Chipboard 3 & Felties (Maya Roads), Stamp (Prima), Acrylic (KI Memories), Button (Jenni Bowlin), Bind it All (Zutter), Border Punch (EK Success)

These little springing stickers take me back to my childhood when we played with these little poppers at my Grandmother's house.  I have no idea what they are called but they were little characters held together by a spring and suction cup and you pushed them down and waited from them to pop and give you a scare.  This is the first time I've seen anything like them in many years.  So I'll say it again, CLEVER!

I used another springing element sticker ("Make a Wish") on this page.  I had a heck of a time trying to get the thing to stop wiggling so I could get a photo.

Oh, the Websters trim again.  Am I the only one who loves the feel of it?  I have to run my fingers through it everytime I use it.  I think part of it is the sheer amazment of how the fabric never wrinkles or gets matted down.  No matter what you do to it, it springs right back up and looks perfect everytime.  That is what I call wonder fabric.

That's all for today.  I've got a Clear Scraps mini album to show you very soon and I'm almost finished a Halloween banner.  Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.  Thanks for stopping by.
