Gone but NOT forgotten

Just a quick note to let all my faithful blog readers know that I am still around and haven't forgotten about you all. I've had a very busy couple of weeks with summer vacations, house showings AND getting ready to go to CHA! Yes, CHA. I am going for the very first time this year and I'm just thrilled. So please forgive me for not having my usual postings. I will leave you with a sneak peek of my latest all time favourite project. I made it as part of my Guest Design Team work for Upsy Daisy next month. Stay tuned for the full reveal in a few weeks.

As always, I truly appreciate you all stopping by. Have a wonderful week. I'll give you a full update of my CHA favs when I get home.

Let's Get Shabby

Shabby chic is such a wonderful style, one I always admire. When I discovered a new challenge blog, Let's Get Shabby, I knew I had to play along. Challenge # 1 is to use this ad to create a page.
I used the muted teals from the fan in the back of the ad as my base colour as it matched my photo so well. I quite literally took the idea of the fans and made one as an accent in my cluster of flowers and butterflies.

Here is a detail shot of the fan. Click on photos to enlarge.

Supplies: Paper (Prima, Scrap Within Reach), Flowers, Bling, Butterfly (Prima), Transparencies (Hambly, Creative Imaginiations), Chipboard (Riff Raff), Stamp (Unity), Pins (Making Memories), Tulle (Bazzill), Ribbon (Offray)

Hope you play along, too.

Brace Yourself: Tracey Uses HOT Pink

Supplies: Paper (Fancy Pants, My Little Shoebox, Jillibean Soup), Letters (Little Yellow Bicycle, Jillibean Soup), Stamp (Scarlet Lime), Sticker (Heidi Swapp, Making Memories), Journaling Sprout (Jillibean Soup), Pins (Making Memories), Trim (May Arts), Misc. buttons, flowers, gems

As promised, here is the first of a few layouts. I even surprised myself with this one. Not only did I use an entire sheet of hot pink cardstock, I paired it with lime green and you know what? I quite enjoyed myself. Who would have thought?

Edited to Add:
This page was published in the Summer, 2010 issue of Scrapbooking and Beyond.

This card just makes me happy. I think I was inspired to use yellow with the return of the sun after so many days of rain. It is based on Sketch 30 @ 2 Sketches 4 You.

Window Card

Supplies: Paper (Cosmo Cricket), Lace (Prima), Metal (Tim Holtz), Stamps (myStamp BOX), Rub-ons (Glitz), Pearls & Ribbon (Craft Supply Store)
This is the latest of my Stamp BOX projects. The talented Ally created a couple of sketches and the Design Team used them to create some cards. My project is a window card made from a round piece of acrylic from Clear Scraps, our product partner last month. The stamp from the Oval Office set fit just perfectly into the metal frame. You can check out the sketches and card samples on the Stamp BOX blog.

Stamping Idea Book

(I guess someone else likes purple, too!! LOL)

I know this one was released several months ago, but I am just getting my hands on a copy now so I thought I'd share my work here for those of you who have yet to see this issue, too. Scrapbook Trends did a fantastic job with this one!

Guest Designer

****WARNING: This post is PURPLE heavy near the end! ****
LOL

It is my privilege and honour to join the Card Patterns team this week as a Guest Designer. Please take a moment and visit the Card Patterns blog for all the details. This is my winning card from last week followed by my interpretation of Carla's beautiful sketch.

I went out on a limb with this one. I didn't intend to do a monochromatic purple card when I started, but this is where I landed. So for all of the anti-purple scrappers out there, I apologize. I've had this flourish stamps for ages and finally took the time to use it. I will definitely be using this one again.

Supplies: Paper (Scrap Within Reach), Stamps (Basic Grey Flourish, myStamp BOX sentiment), Border Punch (EK Success), Card Base (Dollarama), Pearls (Kaiser)

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Yours to Discover

Supplies: Paper (Fancy Pants), Letters (Basic Grey, Creative Café), Sheer (Maya Roads), Stamps (Daisy Bucket), Button (My Little Bit of Whimsy), Brads (Doodlebug), Trim (Websters)

Here is the last of the shaped pages from the crop. Please forgive the photo. I have the most difficult time photographing layouts that aren't square. If you have any tips, I'd be more than happy to receive them.

ENJOY your day.

Happy Canada Day & a NEW stamp release

Today was a fun filled day of Canada Day festivites from cake and cotton candy, to air brushed tattoos, bouncy games, balloon animals and ice cream. Oh to be a kid again.

Today also marks the release of the newest stamp set, "Lots of Dots - Sentiments", at myStamp BOX. This set was cleverly designed to coordinate with "Lots of Dots - Alphabet" and "Lots of Numbers". The sentiments are a little smaller than the alphabet and number sets so they pair up nicely to create unique and custom titles and card sentiments. Check out the myStamp BOX blog for all the details on how to WIN this fantastic set and also for some great examples of the set in use.
HAPPY CANADA DAY!!
